A PLA 2026 Virtual Conference On-Demand Webinar
Queer, trans, and gender nonconforming staff are at great risk for harassment and bullying from the public. Learn what you can do to help set up your staff for safety at your library and what to do when the attacks – both in person and in the form of cyberbullying – occur. This on-demand webinar covers practical ways to support your staff from the beginning as well as what to do when someone is harassed in person or online via your library’s website or social media accounts.

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this on-demand webinar, participants will be able to:
- At the end of this program, participants will be able to identify ways they can keep their staff members physically safe within their library building;
- At the end of this program, participants will be able to identify ways they can keep their staff members digitally safe within the context of their library work online; and
- At the end of this program, participants will be able to protect and support their staff members in the event staff are the victims of cyber bullying or threats due to their work at the library.

This on-demand webinar is intended for any public library worker wishing to sample the educational offerings of the PLA 2026 Virtual Conference.

Panelists
Jenni Frencham is the main branch manager at the Morgan County Public Library in Martinsville, Indiana. They have also worked at school and public libraries in California and Wisconsin. Prior to library work, they taught English at a private school on the island of Guam. When they are not advocating for inclusivity and equity for their staff and patrons at the library, they enjoy crafting, playing video games, and attempting to wrangle their two orange cats.
