Description:
Many libraries lack a dedicated Continuing Education (CE) department, yet staff training needs are increasing in complexity and urgency. As libraries adapt to evolving technologies, community needs, and staffing challenges, accessible, scalable professional development is more critical than ever. This session responds to widespread demand for practical CE strategies that work across diverse staffing and budget contexts.
This program offers an innovative approach by reimagining professional development as a shared responsibility—not a department. It introduces scalable models like rotating CE liaisons, peer-led training, and creative resource use (e.g., MOOCs, YouTube, and conference takeaways). Attendees receive actionable templates and real-world examples from libraries operating without traditional CE structures.
The program emphasizes inclusive CE design by promoting diverse content creators, accessible training formats, and flexible scheduling for part-time staff. It also encourages libraries to develop CE policies that proactively address race, disability, neurodiversity, gender inclusion, and trauma-informed service needs.

At the end of the webinar, attendees will be able to:- Learn practical CE strategies that work across diverse staffing and budget contexts.
