Course Start/End Dates: August 14 – August 25, 2023

Description:

Following up from April’s “How to Effectively Market Today’s Library” webinar, join Pioneer Library System’s Directors to learn how to move away from the paper flyer to a more impactful, measurable outcome to advertising library services and increasing customer engagement.

Week 1 Description: Work together with facilitators and attendees to identify the main marketing goal(s) and barriers for your library, then begin to build the foundation of your marketing plan. Work in small groups to talk through challenges and leave with concrete plans to move your goals forward within your institution.

Week 2 Description: Through interactive activities, build and practice your own effective elevator pitches for a variety of audiences in both formal and informal settings. Learn how to take a complicated service and find the “hook” to captivate your audience. Leave with skills to teach others in your organization how to strengthen word of mouth marketing.

Format: 2-week virtual workshop that consists of weekly live virtual group discussions. Students should complete the assigned readings and the media prior to the live chat session. Students should also come prepared with questions, both about the content and about any workplace challenges they may have encountered, to help drive the discussion. The goal of this course is to help YOU, so attending these sessions ready to bring up what you need is important!
