By fostering open dialogue led by library system leaders, the initiative created a space for colleagues to exchange perspectives, seek support, and strengthen their commitment to intellectual freedom.

Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of this on-demand webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the foundational elements of an intellectual freedom discussion program;
  • Tips and tricks for what worked and what didn’t work in building a discussion centered intellection freedom program; and
  • Develop strategies for facilitating open dialogue and peer support.

Panelists

Barbara Hilderbrand serves as a Senior Collection Management Librarian at the Pierce County Library. With two decades of experience spanning government, academic, and public libraries. She is a dedicated library professional with a committed to intellectual freedom and staff development. She has developed extensive expertise in collection management, information access, and project management. She is passionate about fostering meaningful dialogue in library spaces and working to support staff and patrons in navigating complex issues while upholding the core values of librarianship.
