A PLA 2026 Virtual Conference On-Demand Webinar
Have you ever felt bored or constrained by storytime programming? Storytimes are a staple and tradition for any Youth Services Department, but that doesn’t mean there’s only one way to do them. Listen as we discuss our thoughts on storytimes and adjacent programming. We share some unique ideas, successes we’ve had, challenges we’ve faced, and future plans. Our hope is to broaden your mind on what constitutes a storytime and what storytime elements can be part of other types of programming. .
Recorded live during the PLA 2026 Virtual Conference, April 1–3, 2026.
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this on-demand webinar, participants will be able to:

Panelists
Tom Malinowski has been librarian-ing in the Chicago suburbs for over 10 years. He did a stint at Boise Public Library which was a blast! When he's not at work he's either - journaling, catching up on written correspondence, gaming, running, and reading many comic books. "The way back will come but once. Be steadfast." - Robert Jordan.
Cristina Bueno (she/her) is a Youth Services Librarian at the Skokie Public Library where she focuses on underserved audiences. She loves running programs for youth of all ages and her favorite types of programs involve books, crafts, and sometimes sand (cough cough archaeology nerd). Cristina holds Master’s Degrees in Museum Education and Library & Information Science, and was a 2024 ALA Spectrum Scholar. She loves all things spooky and cute.
